Cursing at Work

Dear Employees:

It has been brought to management's attention that some individuals throughout the company have been using foul language during the course of normal conversation with their co-workers.

Due to complaints received from some employees who may be easily offended, this type of language will no longer be tolerated.

We do, however, realize the critical importance of being able to accurately express your feelings when communicating with co-workers.

Therefore,a list of 18 New and Innovative 'TRY SAYING' phrases have been provided so that proper exchange of ideas and information can continue in an effective manner.

Hello Bob
What you say is very interesting because it is very important to express one’s feelings and it is not necessary to use foul words to do so. I have always been interested by communication between parents and children. How to let children express their feeling and to express ours is very important.(Of course in a nice way) Do you know the Gordon method?
Gordon Method
The method emphasizes effective communication and conflict resolution using the win-win strategy. Other skills from his program are Active listening and the use of I-messages.

Cursing at work Empty The Gordon method

Message  Invité Ven 23 Sep - 11:59

Hi Muriel,

No I hadn't heard of the Gordon method. The name is quite amusing to me, because the UK Prime Minister before the current one, whose name was Gordon Brown was known for using coarse language when he was upset - which was quite often!

It is very funny and is is very important because, when you are usisg "surveyed language" rather than "coarse language", which is more direct, you feel better, you suprise the others which are accustumed to a coarse language, and you are more efficient in the expression of your feelings.

Hello Pierre, Bob
I am very pleased to meet you again on this forum. You are right, what the important is the impact on people when you want to let out your bad feelings. People are surprised to hear proper words instead of foul language Wink

Hello Bob, Muriel, Pierre

Greetings from cold and wet Paris ...

Using the "polite" language is not nearly as fulfilling and frankly just doesn't "cut it" ! Very Happy
My personal favourites are numbers 3 and 17
f___ is such a good versatile word suitable for so many occasions !

LOLOLOL Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hi Muriel,
Sure you can say f**k, if you like, although it really isn't something you would say in front of the Pope or the Queen !
But better grammar is to say "I am so f**king glad to read this coversation" !

If not wanting to use f**k, maybe you could say "Gee, I am so pleased to see you back on this forum"

Gosh is okay, although it implies surprise rather than happiness.

But not for God's sake ... that implies annoyance or anger.

I don't see myself to une the word f**k for saying that I am glad, even if this word is used in many circumstances!

Hi Pierre,
I wouldn't use "bad" language with strangers ... unless I was very angry !
f**k is more a word to use amongst family and friends, provided they speak the same way and aren't offended by profanity.

Hi Muriel,
You are very welcome !
