Is the era of American exceptionalism coming to an end? The U.S. is no longer so far ahead of the rest of the global economy—and that might not be so bad. Gates is  dedicating his fortune and—even better—his mind to improving the lives of the poorest I uunderstand that Gérard wants to follow everything he is doing.

I agree that America should not hold the other countries back to be leader of the world. On the contrary America should be happy when other countries are improving.  In this way Americans can  learn from them.
What is important is to share.
