Privatization of NHS on the Boil
Hi everyone,
I don't know much about the Health system in the UK:
(what I maybe falsely had in mind)
- doctors deal with health (what I like) and not with pills, illness, labs
- very cheap for people
- rather poor quality
- doctors payed according to the number of people they are responsible for
- you have to choose a GP (like in France) and refer to the GP before consulting a specialist (like in France)
- etc.
Of course, health is very expensive and NHS is bound to be reformed.

Hi everyone,
I'm more used to reading American articles than British ones.
It's so well written that I've the feeling I'm talking with the Queen

As much as I hate to see words spelled with "zation" on the end, I am forced to admit that even the Oxford dictionary allows privatization, and not privatisation ... <sigh> !

Hi Krystyna, hi everyone,
> even the Oxford dictionary allows privatization, and not privatisation ... <sigh> !
I'm sorry but I have to inform you you should change your specs. or use a magnifying glass.
We've got the same Oxford dictionary and mine displays only one spelling: privatization which means it doesn't "allow" but demands - the Brits (and Australians as well) and the Queen have to use this ZI-spelling.

Hello Gérard ! Hello everyonegerardM a écrit:

What I know about the Health system in France compared to the one in England is that the French spend much more money on health than the English. In England they have a profitability policy.
In France the key word is " The same cares for everyone". In England you have to pay to be properly treated. That is where lies the difference.

Hi Muriel,
Thanks for your words.
> In England you have to pay to be properly treated.
What do you call "treated"? Do you mean in case of illness?
Does the GP correctly deal with health maintenance (I mean without illness)?
What is included is the minimum like for specs, a bit ridiculous but free (as far as I know)... What our Security Sociale provides re specs or teeth is not better.
Thanks for your words.

Re: Privatization of NHS on the Boil
It means that you have to pay. In England it is another way of practicing medecine. I don't want to compare, i don't want to criticize, I just write a few facts. For the French medecine is a right and in England it has a cost, that's all !Private healthcare or private medicine is healthcare and medicine provided by entities other than the government

Re: Privatization of NHS on the Boil
Hi everyone,
I forgot to specify that these expressions "on the boil", "to the boil", "off the boil" are British rather tahn American.

Hi Gerard, everyone
If you don't know anything about "boil"
Put water, butter, and lard into a saucepan and bring slowly to the boil
