Normaly, the French shouldn't need this
as they're good at grammar.

Do we have that variety of sounds in French?
Can you make a difference between these sounds or do you think it's the same?
(remember I preach the French cannot hear all of these sounds
...
my friend recently laughed as I was speaking about loan while she thought It was about lawn
- I mean I pronounced lawn instead - don't ask me the difference)

Loan=ləʊn
lawn=lɔːn
Gérard you are right, it is very difficult to hear all the English sounds. I had a look in internet for "loan" and "lawn" sounds. I think phonetic is very useful for remembering...

Yes Muriel. I never remember except when I made a big mistake.

Very often b/w law and low. However it's a reflew now when I have to pronounce these words.
I also remember the surprise of a german conterpart when I was speaking about a spread-sheet (my sound was obviously long enough) Wink

Mind! This is American English
and regarding parts of a car, there're big differences b/w British and American English.

Do you know the Brit vocabulary?

Has to be learned by heart as there's no logic to discover.

This is not a lesson but an exercise:
You have to match a verb on the left with a noun on the right.
