People often reveal their private emotions in tiny, fleeting facial expressions, visible only to a best friend — or to a skilled poker player. Now, computer software is using frame-by-frame video analysis to read subtle muscular changes that flash across our faces in milliseconds, signaling emotions like happiness, sadness and disgust.

Any way, face-reading technology raises privacy concerns. More and more society' s interactions are video taped and we always feel that "Big brother is watching us" all the more so that, now,we can't even hide our feelings.
What do you think ?

We have to live with technology discoveries... how about voluntarily make faces so that the cameras get mad Laughing(draw the tongue, laugh loudly...)? How do cameras deal with lies?

what machines can tell from your face

Technology is rapidly catching up with the human ability to read faces. In America facial recognition is used by churches to track worshippers’ attendance; in Britain, by retailers to spot past shoplifters. This year Welsh police used it to arrest a suspect outside a football game. In China it verifies the identities of ride-hailing drivers, permits tourists to enter attractions and lets people pay for things with a smile. Apple’s new iPhone is expected to use it to unlock the homescreen

Hi Gérard
I have just read this article in the Encomist and I think it is terrifying to live in  such a “total surveillance society" with the government and other authorities having the ability to know our whereabouts and activities . The notion of privacy is thus changing a lot. On may wonder if it is for the best ? Anyway I accept that if it ensure people's safety.
