Scientists Solve Mystery of 'Chinese Pompeii'
Hi everyone,
ScienceNOW
-> Scientists Solve Mystery of 'Chinese Pompeii'
At the bottom of an ancient lake in northeastern China, scientists found fish, bird, and dinosaur fossils so well preserved that they could see the outlines of muscles, skin, and feathers. Now, they've figured out why these 130-million-year-old fossils were in such good shape: They were victims of an animal Pompeii, killed in a hot cloud of volcanic ash.
