in order to pay tribute to an old, very old friend who passed away last week

Little casket

They told me to follow the little casket
You sometimes told me, it was so long
to pass, the end of this long life.
You were born in 1922, one year before my still living father

Like a boat gliding on the canal
One by one, you said your farewells to your beloved parents and siblings
You were not in a hurry for rejoining them
You were so interested in what life could still offer.

We shared some trips and meals.
Sometimes, next to me, you dozed off, at a boring lecture
But you were so keen on
taking part, being there…
This craving for everything was perhaps what attracted the most
In You, besides your cookies

Like this last meal, I saw you eating , bedridden in the hospital.
I was with your nephew, we burst out of laughter.
This last supper you swallowed more than ate properly
Was like a last rage
For fuelling that body which was falling apart

Sometimes you complained about your deteriorating health.
Two years ago the tip of your foot had to be cut
The still remaining end had turned black
If you had lived longer they would have cut it too.

In the little casket they put everything,
your little dried body,
the plaster of your broken arm
The black foot that was to be cut
they’ve put everything
Of the remaining of you
in the little casket of yours

Such a huge life in such a tiny casket !
And they told me to follow the little casket !

Jean pierre I understand what you feel I perfectly know that Death is unfair and unbearable! I just want to share my own belief and I have written this.

All cells in our body are constantly replaced!

And the mind is in us the sole important place.

The one which will never disappear.

Its home is not time and space.

Jean Pierre, please don’t shed a tear

In another form your friend is  hier

Thank you Muriel
For the nice poem
in which you put sincerely
Everything you believe
About Life when she leaves

Unlike you, I don’t believe Death is unfair
Yes of course the death of a baby, a child, a teenager or an adult
Seems unfair
But the end of Life of an old lady
Is the normal end of Life
Especially when it has been a long, nice and fruitful one

But the more we have been in link with those we loved or been loved by
The less we are able to accept their departure
Yet sometimes it’s time for them to leave !

I hope there is no sadness in what I wrote
It was a tribute to Life , not a complaint about death.
When it’s over, it’s then time to pay tribute to Life
not to complain about the end.

First, I didn’t want to go to the funeral
It was kind of pointless for me
Then somebody asked me to come along with him
But all the Christian stuff of the Church gets on my nerves
All the talking around the coffin, useless and sometimes hypocritical

I understand what you meant
In your lovely poem
You believe in the the indestructibility of the Spirit
It’s a comforting idea anyway

I think that the spirit, what some call soul
Boasted itself to be over the body, but for me it originates in the body itself
So without body no soul or spirit, for spirit is another form of matter
Even if E= mc2

It’s quite materialistic,  but this thought which has to deal with the « has been » more than the nothingness, is not as depressing as it can seem at first sight because
It simply emphasizes the importance of Life, right now
And not when it’s over…

So without body no soul or spirit
Jean pierre I don't want to bring you to my way of thinking (I respect people's view point )but with quantic physics it might not be true.

Wave–particle duality is the concept that every elementary particle or quantic entity exhibits the properties of not only particles, but also waves
According to this new therory t's not the body which generates the spirit.
