Re: Dawn French Fan Club 2
=>“Nope……but I’ve been swung around by my nipples a few times.” I am sorry Gérard, but I can't get the sentence either.gerardM a écrit:A little old lady had always wanted to join a local biker club, so one day she goes up and knocks on the door. A big, hairy bearded biker with tattoos all over his arms answers.
She proclaims, “I want to join your club.”
The guy was amused, but says she needs to meet certain biker requirements in order to join.
The biker asks, “Do you have a motorcycle?”
The little old lady replies, “Yep… my bike’s parked over there,” and points to a flamed black Harley chopper in the driveway.
The biker asks, “Do you drink?”
The little old lady replies, “Yep… drink like a fish. I’ll drink any man in your club under the table.”
The biker asks, “Do you smoke?”
The little old lady replies, “Yep… smoke like a chimney. At least 4 packs of cigarettes and a couple of cigars in the evening, while I’m shooting pool.”
The biker is very impressed and asks, “Last question…. have you ever been picked up by the fuzz?”
The little old lady thinks for a minute and says, “Nope……but I’ve been swung around by my nipples a few times.”
I'm afraid I need a couple of explanations...

Hi Muriel,
The problem is the link between
- "picked up by the fuzz?"
and
- "swung around by my nipples"
"Fuzz" is slang for "police".
I found this ( https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100417115452AA148m6 ) but it doesn't help: the guys don't understand better than we do.

Indeed Muriel.
However, we have to be careful when we want to use informal words and still more for lang.

Yes and especially when we have problems with the police, it is better to remain polite isn't it ? not use slang words about them.

Re: Dawn French Fan Club 2
I was not thinking of the police: they are used to receiving far more such as stones nowadays.
I was speaking about anyone in the street: slang has to be used carefully as it's so easy to be misunderstood.

Gérard it's not so easy to use the right words people use and undersand. You have to know them which is not possible with people you meet for the first time. I agree that one must be careful with slang

To live with contentment instead of dissatisfaction is the key to happiness. Those who have little are not rich but they are wise.
