English usually keeps the singular "difference" even when French would prefer the plural.

The most frequent collocations in spoken English
Why learn collocations?

The most frequent collocations in spoken English

A collocation is two or more words that often go together. These combinations just sound "right" ... in chunks or blocks rather than as single words.

Yes Muriel.
However, it's easier not to learn grammatical rules than to read, and read, and read in order to learn correct sentences and get good reflexes (to be able to ask your ears/eyes if they already heard/saw this or that).

> be able to ask your ears/eyes if they already heard/saw this or that
That's the way natives do.

Back to "see, look and watch":

See can be followed by if and weather. Look and watch are not normally followed by if or whether.

Let’s see whether she is in. (NOT Let’s watch/look whether she is in.)
See if there is any food left. (NOT Look/watch if there is any food left.)
In the last 2 lines, actions are closer to "look" but there are "whether or if".
