I don't like "doesn't mean... but..." because that'd look like an opposition, a big difference.
The French language has another term but does it imply it's a very different meaning?
Who is right? English? French? Does it need a special term?
(sometimes French exaggerates with special words, sometimes English exaggerates)

You've to consider, and try to learn, the meaning which is in the contect.
A wad of bills / notes.
In French: "une liasse de billets"
Take care as there're very often slang meanings that are in the domain of sex.
