The sociologist on an African jungle expedition held up her camera to take pictures of the native children at play. Suddenly the children began to yell in protest.
Turning red, the sociologist apologized to the chief for her insensitivity and told him she had forgotten that certain tribes believed a person lost her soul if his picture was taken. She explained to him, in long-winded detail, the operation of a camera. Several times the chief tried to get a word in, but to no awail.
Certain she had put all the chief 's fear to rest, the sociologisst then allowed him to speak. Smiling, he said
"The children wer trying to tell you that you forgot to take off the lens cap ! "

Even among sociologists, even among Americans, women are very talkative. Wink

About 10 years back, my American friend and I were visiting the church in Auvers sur Oise (painted by Van Gogh) and we taked much with a lady who was the curator of the church (I you wondered, the church is straight).
My friend asked her whether she could take a photo of her and she refused categorically like afraid...
I tried to insist but my friend told me not to go on.
... the cap was not on...

Maybe the lady
- belonged to such a tribe
- was a murdered
- wanted money
- was a movie star
- was ill and might have been put down by the flash
I'll never know! Wink

Notice the respect of my friend who anticipated the refusal.
- maybe my friend considered the French as wild people Wink
