Stock Exchange Places Empty Stock Exchange Places

Message  gerardM Dim 19 Mai - 14:12

Hi everyone,

You may have heard these past days, that regarding stocks, the Dow Jones, the DAX beat their highest historic records... the FTSE is still behind them!
The media also claimed France beat its records.... Yes but the record of 2013!!! LOL

For those who think French stock investments provide shameful outcomes despite the crisis, I'd respond that the crisis is well here, that French decline is well here.

Here's the history of the CAC40 (French index):
Stock Exchange Places Cac40_2
That means today's level is approximately half the high point of September 4, 2000!
Though picked up today from France-Inflation, the Parisian SE reached the wall of 4000 points last Friday (the graph uses average monthly values)
I repeat: "the crisis is well here, that French decline is well here."

I'd add that DJ reaching the level of 2000 just means the econimical US lost twelve and a half years (and France far more)!!

Hi everyone,

Another graph:
Stock Exchange Places Cac40_11

With our 4,000 points, we're well far from the historical 6945!!

Fortunately, it's gonna re-start!

Hi everyone,

As a comparison, below is the Dow Jones since 1913 (linear ordinate):

Can you see a difference with the CAC 40 these years? Can you see the French crisis?

Hi everyone,

A few links to illustrate the high point since July 2011 of the French indice:

When I helped my mother write her biography, I took interest to the stock exchange ups and downs because it was my mother's main hobby.

I remember 1982 when the the Dow Jonnes was climbing until "black monday" in 1987 (The Americans had called this period : bull market) My mother was very happy and created an investment club. She kept telling me that when the left is in power the Dow jone is high.

I also remember that the Dow jone hit its all-time high on October 9, 2007, closing at 14,164.43. unfortunately Less than 18 months later, it had fallen more than 50% to 6,594.44 on March 5, 2009.
But the great depression in 1929 was worse but my mother was only nine and not yet interested Sad

Hi Muriel,
MurielB a écrit:(The Americans had called this period : bull market)
They use this expression for any going up period.
the Dow jone hit its all-time high on October 9, 2007, closing at 14,164.43.
The DJ recently beat the high score (and established another one).
The DJ is at its all-time high.
The CAC40 is around 4.000 against a historic high point of about 7.500 (-47 %).
ie
In the US, the market "did nothing" for 6 years (just catching up with the record).
In France, the market lost half its value within the last 6 years... that's why I asked "Can you see the French crisis?"

Hi everyone,

Shall I be joyful (as I can buy at low rate)?
Shall I be desperate (as I lost oodles of money)?

After 67% last week, the stock exchange in Paris is plumetting.

Stock Exchange Places Empty Les apprentis sorciers...

Message  gerardM Jeu 22 Jan - 19:09
