Hello everybody,

My job is a nounou for two French children, a girl aged 4 and a baby boy aged 11 months.
I look after the baby all day, and the little girl after school, and I speak only English with them.
But the little girl is teaching me French verbs !!!

I had a lovely surprise today !
All week, I have been teaching the baby to clap his hands ... and today he did it all by himself as soon as I said in English "clap hands, clap hands"
He was very proud of himself, and laughed a lot !
He is sooooo cute ! elephant

Tomorrow, I plan to start teaching him to count from 1 to 10.

Count on his fingers?
What's his name? Einstein? Laughing Count from 1 to 10?

What will be his first word: Maman or an Aussie swearword?

Hi Gérard,

Hum, do you think I'm expecting too much in wanting him to count at 11 months old ?
But he's a very smart "little cookie" !

Hi Muriel,

Congatulations to your little grand-daughter ! cheers

This is an interesting thing about children hearing two languages when they are very young ... even though you might think they don't understand, their little brains are like sponges, and they are absorbing and storing everything for use at a later date !
It just takes one trigger for them to put it all into place and then they open their mouths and speak !

Up till now, the 4 year old girl that I look after, would only reply to me in French, but since her baby brother can "understand" English, she does not want to be "upstaged" so she is suddenly responding to me in English and is rather good at her words and making little sentences.

Hi Gérard, hi everyone,

Unfortunately my little genius did not learn to count on Friday !
He was more interested in eating my fingers than in counting them ! Sad
But we will continue and I hope I have good news soon !
