This and that
Hi everyone,
If you intended to visit me, be quick!!
It's an afternoon of intensive gym from armchair to cupboard and back to pick up a bit of chocolate... 400g ToblerOne: I guess they won't live beyond an hour!
So good!!
So, I repeat: if you intended to visit me, be quick!!

Oh My!
After Christmas, New Year and efforts to avoid spoiling chocolate, to day was the celebration of my son...
I'm anxious to know what my scale will display tomorrow morning!!

Re: This and that
Gosh! It's worse than expected!!
I'm afraid many next meals will be soup with leeks and potatoes!
How comes I just took a tiny bit of cakes (hm yea several ) and the outcome is that my scale almost broke under 3 extra kilos!!
The worst is that I still have boxes to finish with yummy marzipan sweet, marrons glacés or ToblerOne... and lots of food in my fridge!
OMG poor me!
Does anyone else have as sad surprises? Pls comfort me showing I'm not the only one.

Hi Muriel, hi everyone,
Thanks!
> it is easier than saying that we are on a diet today isn't it
Indeed! Did Patrick ask you about the diet or did you suggest a husband must support his wife??
As for me I made a very hard decision.
In order to help French industry, I chose to finish my desserts before taking up the diet!
I thought that eating my marzipan and chocolate was a mark of respect for the employees who prepared the box
True that with carrots and leek-potatoe soup, I help more French industry than with salmon... hm
Who shouted "hypocrite"!!??
Thanks!

Re: This and that
Hi everyone,
Why do people work for nothing??
In front of me lies a cube of marrons glacés by Motta (oh not many left not worth coming). Inside the marrons are sitting on cardboard and wrapped into kinda beautiful silver paper.
Why the hell did they take that care?? They annoy me as I'm obliged to unwrap carefully, and the mouthful is tiny with only one marron at a time whereas I could put 2 or 3 if they were not inside that bloody paper!
In addition, in the cube, there would be more marrons (taking the room of the wrapping!!
Useless work!!

Re: This and that
Hm
This morning I was not completely awakened.
I switch on the hotplate to get my milk warmed.
I'm used to turning the device on while preparing my toasts and checking the led to get on and off 4 times before switching off.
This morning the led didn't want to get off... I began to worry about a bug in the system, about my having to change the device, etc.
After a while, I began to hear the sound of bubbles announcing the milk was about to boil!!
I turned off. My milk was a bit hot but I enjoyed it!
The bug was in my head only!
I realized my thermostat had been tuned on 9 instead of 7!
I'm really an easy going guy! Instead of thinking Alzheimer was close, I enjoyed I was not a robot LOL
Every morning I'm used to turn things on and off automatically. This mistake this morning pleased me so much: nothing better to feel free and insure I am not a robot yet!
NB: "This and that" means unimportant things, twaddles, tall stories... Here I like to write silly stories! Do like me!

I am pleased you are an optimist in every "this and that" situation of life. As to me I always think that

Re: This and that
Hi Muriel,
Yes I'm an optimist.
After several decades on Earth, I was led to the conclusion it was not worth complaining, it didn't improve things but the opposite.
Not worth whingeing
Or, another way is to cry before the events!!!

Re: This and that
Hi Muriel, hi everyone,
Reading again, I realize I made a few mistakes in my posting (and I don't like it ):
Better to write "This morning I was not completely awake."
Awake is used after sleeping, awaken is rather used for awareness.
> I realized my thermostat had been tuned on 9 instead of 7!
"Tuned" is not good English here. It is used for old radio sets (when we had to turn a button to find the station), for TV (no button any longer but an automatic search to determine a list).
I should have written ""I realized I selected 9 instead of 7 for my thermostat!
> I'm used to turn things on and off
Of course, it's a big mistake!! The grammar teaches: "I'm used to turning things on and off!!
I knew this (I wrote it a few lines above) and I don't like not to have a proper reflex yet (tho' I don't want to be a bot).
> twaddles
This is no appropriate word here as it's too negative, too pejorative.
Sorry for these multiple approximate words or big mistakes.

Re: This and that
Hi everyone,
Can you imagine!!??
I needed over 60 years to realize: is it bad (meaning I'm an idiot) or good (meaning I can still learn/understand)
I realized this morning only that the English "mail" had to do and probably came after the French "malle" which was the way to speak about "courrier" long ago (and the "malle-poste" was the coach carrying mail).
I realized this as I was reading "Deutsche Malerei" on a German stamp.
Good to know hey!

Muriel,
~~
To Susan, my American friend, I responded that in France, we'll have the 11-12-13 on the 11th of December.
Corrine, another Am. friend laughed and said we won't get 12-13-14 next year (13th of December).
I announced my solution will be to become American by that date, asking Obama to adopt a granddad.
