when my daughter was working as a lawyer in New york she did not stop much from working. Perhaps is it the reason why she went back to France Wink

Hi Muriel,

No luck!

Funny to find a tab dedicated to "American Holidays" while the other tabs are set to religions, as if "American" was a special religion! Wink
14 holidays! Would not be bad to follow the Jewish calendar, no?

Look at the dates for 2013. Very often on a Monday ie they don't work.

Hi everyone,

Here's a more specific page regarding American holidays
-> Am Holidays (according to the Fed government)
- 10 fed holidays: New Year's Day, Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
- 10 "Other Celebrations and Observances": Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Earth Day, Arbor Day, Mother's Day, Flag Day, Father's Day, Patriot Day, Halloween, Pearl Harbor Day
- some "Ethnic and Religious Holidays"

Here's another web page with, in addition, holidays in each state -> Holidays in United States in 2013
Wow! Sounds good hey!
Wouldn't be perfect to be a Citizen of AllStates?? Laughing

Yes, that's what the French government and the companies keep saying but you have the official URL of the US gov.

No the French are not the lazziest people on Earth (but our politicians possibly are)!
In addition, with such arguments (lazziest, the most numerous number of holidays, the least number of work hours, the biggest number of vacation days, the highest rate for work hours, the best social care system, etc.), they got something true: the French productivity is very high.

Hi everyone,

Maybe not exactly a Holiday yet but a very nice day!

-> National Doughnut Day 2013: Where to Get Free Doughnuts
Yum! Look at these pics!
June 7 is National Doughnut Day. Whether you're partial to the cream-filled, glazed, jelly or chocolate varieties, the doughnut is something near and dear to so many of us.

The Salvation Army established this sweet holiday in 1938 to raise funds during the Great Depression and honor the "lassies," as they called the female volunteers, who supported the soldiers on the front lines during World War I, serving them delicious meals, and of course, doughnuts. Approximately 250 "lassies" provided assistance to American soldiers in France in 1917.
