The Edinburgh Agreement of October 15th paves the way to a possible independence of Scotland by the end of 2014. In Northern Ireland, violence reappeared in the headlines after the murder of a prison officer by the IRA. Wales remains a loyal nation but its first minister Carwyn Jones highlighted that Britain’s questions about its European identity crisis were only playing in favour of United Kingdom breakup supporters.
