Hi Muriel,
MurielB a écrit:Hi Gérard, everyone !
Never heard of abhorent...
Double "R" Muriel: the spelling is abhorrent.

I guess "abhorrent" is American.
It's the same root as "horror".
We've the French verb "abhorrer".

Hi Gérard, everyone !

I would like to add what I have searched on the internet

‘to ask for’ can also mean to do something which is likely to lead to trouble or problems.

  • Walking around the streets alone at night was asking for trouble.
