Re: Brexit bye bye UK
Hi Everyone
Our English friends are leaving Europe. That's very sad. I love the English language and I have a lot of English friends but do I understand them? I met this morning a native English teacher whom I found very nice. I talked to her about the royals and found how different we are about them. I don't quite understand their attachment to the royal family. What is so special about them that a whole people worships them so much?
Are they a microcosm in which we can recognize the English society as a whole?
isn't it a society where class difference is not contested but totally accepted? The English did not, like the French, guillotine their king did they? On the contrary, they admire the royals and are passionate about their acts and gestures. I think they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, that’s all. I personnally look up to people like abbé Pierre or Marie cury whose lives were exceptionnel. The stability of the royal family must be a reassuring, timeless symbol in our increasingly anxiety-provoking world (only in certain aspects because I love the world we live in
