I'm sorry to speak neither Esperanto nor Spanish and it's only in American that I'm responding.


Happy New Year to all of the members of this forum!


Regarding these celebrations I would like to point out two elements:
- in America, they are very cautious about everyone's religion and they don't wish Merry Xmas (which would possibly offend non Christian persons) but a neutral "Holiday's greetings" or "Season's greetings" (they will say "Merry Xmas" if they know the person for sure)!
- in the States and the UK, people send their cards in early December as they like to display the ones they received on the mantelpiece (while we send our wishes till end Jan.)

NB: Americans take great care not to offend anyone and to respect their friends: in addition to the religion question (that I pointed out hereabove), they'll also avoid "his, her, him" when they don't know about the gender of the addressee (for example on a forum where members use nicknames)...

Leider werde ich nicht im Cafe am Dienstag sein, denn ich wohne sehr weit von Calais (nahe Paris). Wir werden nur auf dem Foren treffen.
