I found very funny the answer an English man gave to my husband when he asked for the french version of a computor program
"Being english I am genetically uncapable of speaking another language apart from my mother tonque"

Even worse than the French then.

However, we must go on and improve our skills!

I assume the guy said this with a smile (as En-speaking people usually do) but the problem is that they use this as a poor excuse to laziness, avoiding to learn foreign languages: a pity!

You are right Gérard but when you enjoy learning a foreign language you are lucky. i have friends whose son got married to a spanish young girl. I told them to go on studying spanish because their grandchildren will speak spanish and it is important. I invited them to come to the language festival but hard luck, they didn't come.
