Muriel,
> some of then I didn't know
Be aware there're differences between American and British.
US -> Brit
diaper -> nappy
pacifier -> dummy
nipple -> teat

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
This table must be known by heart.
To take or to get, that's not obvious
but only conventional;
we know what to take means, what to get means...
an expression is not the same according to the language.
Learn by heart;
it's important.
Ainsi :
Take=prendre
-passer un examen
- suivre/prendre un cours
- prendre le bus
- faire une pause
Get=obtenir
- recevoir une lettre
- acheter un ticket
- obtenir un job
- Get+past participle or particle leads to a dedicated verb in French

Subject + Adverb + Main Verb + Direct Object
NEVER EVER separate the Object from the Verb - no adverb there (though very Frenchie )!

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
Hi everybody,
Pls consider this picture carefully as it is not a common one:
This picture or at least these words were very well chosen.
Confirmed by KrystynaD,
the pronunciation of the words (by couple)
are exactly the same (and not approximately).
Please, check them carefully:
if you wouldn't have pronounced the same way, you were wrong,
check thoroughly
you might change your way.
eg flower and flour
sew and so
deer and dear
...
these couples of words are very serious.
Consider this pic as a lesson.
Things could have been extended to series of 3 words.

Did I already post this?
Better 2 times than none!
Necessary to have a rich vocabulary with close words
so that you can choose the exact adjective
to express what you want to say.

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
I guess there are a few mistakes:
Flashlight is American, not British
(there shouldn't be "flashlight" on right pane but on left one
there shouldn't be "torch" on left pane)
There's nothing corresponding to "sneakers"

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
I don't find American words very close to British one, except when British people decide to mimick Am.

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
Hi Muriel,
As far as I am concerned, given your level in English, you need to know precisely if it is British or American and avoid a mix.
Take particularly care of words that exist in both languages but with big differences that could lead to misunderstanding..

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
NB:
- it's American English
- there're lots of differences b/w Brit/Am En
- there's a mistake: in 2 words "winshield" should be "windshield"
(Brit is "windscreen")
