Hi Muriel,
In the English speaking world, French is considered very romantic. It's the characteristics given in response to why did you learn French?

Hi Gérard
There is more tragedy in the Spanish language and it is stronger. Flamenco dance is very tragic and sad.
It reminds me of a Bolivian student I met in Boulogne 2 weeks ago. she wanted to thank somebody who had repaired her computer. She didn't want to just say "merci beaucoup" she wanted to strongly express her feelings like muchissimas gracias but couldn't find French words;

No her level in French was not perfect. Anyway she was right. I also prefer "muchissimas gracias" to "merci beaucoup" it is stronger. but does "romantic" mean "strong"? I think that in romanticism the feelings have more intensity.

Oui moi aussi mais...MurielB a écrit:I also prefer "muchissimas gracias" to "merci beaucoup" it is stronger.
