Re: Language Learning Base
What is the difference between "I will and I am going to"?
A very confusing concept is when to use WILL and when to use BE GOING TO when we refer the future.
The structure BE GOING TO is normally used to indicate the future but with some type of connection to the present. Where there is no implicit or explicit connection to the present, use WILL.

Discourse Markers
Discourse markers are words and expressions used to show how discourse is constructed.
We use different discourse markers in speaking and writing. In speaking, the following discourse markers are very common:

Contact clauses
When the relative pronouns ‘who ", ‘which’ or ‘that’ (in object case) are omitted the relative clause becomes a contact clause.
We leave out the relative pronoun (who/which/that) if it is not the subject in the sentence.
