I frowned when I read these words as I'd have said: "be nice to people around you".

According to my dictionary (not exactly a grammar book):

- to be nice to = être gentil avec
- it was nice of her to do = c'était gentil de sa part de faire

Of course we have only 2 choices => growing older or die Young ! I think growing older is better.

... but growing older is a privilege that is denied to many not because they die but because they don't evolve.

Gérard you mean that we never grow old when we evole, we have project. Anyway old age and death are not scary since there is scientific evidence to suggest that life might continue after death, according to the largest ever medical study carried out on the subject. Anyway our loved ones ' death remains scary.

Yes one has to give according to needs ! Not so easy when you have children !

Mayday is an international radio signal word used by aircraft and ships in distress. I couldn't imagine that word came from : m'aider. It is really amazing because "mayday" sounds so English !

Just like "tennis" and other French words pronounced by an English mouth (the words of precious post are series of words not single words ie "tennis-tenez" didn't have to be in that list).
