Smile, Nat King Cole
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
[instrumental interlude]
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Nat King Cole 1969 (?)

Thank you Bernard for that old song. I like the lyrics of it.
The choice of the words is nice to hear : aching/breaking sorrow/tomorrow gladness/sadness
tear/near, etc
But I find it a bit nostalgic and too slow, don't you think ?

Guilaine, Bernard !
I don't think that song is sad. It's a good advice=>don't be buried by your anguish, but smile and surpass it.

Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

I mean: The most beautiful about Mr. Chaplin is to show through the smile a slight sadness. It was often his way of being.
