Re: Happy halloween !
Unfortunately I find Halloween is very less celebrated in France than in another countries, like in the USA. In France, stores are already in preparation for Christmas and it's strange to see Christmas decorations in stores in october but it will happen more quickly than we think!

Hi Justine
I was very happy to see your post. Congratulations ! you write very good English. I agree that in France people don't like Halloween. Two years ago we organized an Halloween party in Calais polyglot café but very few people joined.

Re: Happy halloween !
I personally don't like Halloween. I judge it artificial, commercial.
Things are not as decades ago in the States: kids are no longer ringing the bell of every house due to possible dangers.

Hi Justine ! hi Gérard !
What do you think of "the day of the dead"? It's a lot happier than halloween isn't it ?

El día de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—is a holiday celebrated on November 1. Although marked throughout Latin America, Dia de los Muertos is most strongly associated with Mexico, where the tradition originated.
Dia de los Muertos honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations, a typically Latin American custom that combines indigenous Aztec ritual with Catholicism, brought to the region by Spanish conquistadores. (Dia de los Muertos is celebrated on All Saints Day and All Souls Day, minor holidays in the Catholic calendar.)

Re: Happy halloween !
Yes I have already heard of this tradition. It's a really different culture, I don't imagine that in France...
But each country have different ways to approach the death, and I think it should be interesting (but a little strange) to see once this event in Latin America.

Yes Justine, it would be very strange to see that happen in France!

Re: Happy halloween !
I have thunk to you because last week I went to the cinema to see the new James Bond and the first action takes place in Mexico during the Day of the Dead and we can see how the town is decorated and people costumes, it's very surprising!
