Mureil, check it but I would say that it needs a plural: "... personalities".MurielB a écrit:Good to know about the 10 reindeers' personality !

Gérard as we all know the French language has a greater abstraction compared to the English language. The English language expresses more details about reality
Is it "The 10 reindeers' personalities"or "The 10 reindeers' personality"?
I agree that the first translation "personalities" gives a better representation of what reality is. It is true that there are 10 different personalities. Anyway I have searched on the internet but couldn't find the grammar rules of that particular case.

Muriel, what you wrote ("") is the base of the French rule.MurielB a écrit:Gérard as we all know the French language has a greater abstraction compared to the English language. The English language expresses more details about reality

It's not the same in English -> "10 men with their pipes..."
Don't search for logic in grammars, French or English.

Gérard I have tried my best to find a rule and suddenly I remembered a book I used when I was at university "stylistique compare du Fr et de Gb"I think there is some kind of explanation in what I have written. Do you think I am wrong ?

To write out =>to write in a more complete form
One of the senses of out is to make the meaning of a verb stronger

Yes Muriel. "Up" is an intermediate strength (between normal and "out").MurielB a écrit:To write out =>to write in a more complete form

Hens can dig holes when there's a good worm there.
