Young people spend a couple of years going round the world, quit the job they don't like and go back to new studies, have an unsettled affective life and the young women have their eggs frozen because they have not found the ideal partner or because they want to concentrate on their career. Emerging adults do a wide variety of activities, but are not constrained by any sort of role requirements. The adolescence is behind but they are not adults yet. It is a very interesting period because they explore a great number of possibilities.Arnett suggests emerging adulthood is the distinct period between 18 and 25 years of age where adolescents become more independent and explore various life possibilities.

All this shows that nowadays it is better for the young to delay their important life decisions and let their brains fully matureWhile many people believe that the brains of emerging adults are fully developed, they are in fact still developing into their adult forms. Many connections within the brain are strengthened and those that are unused are pruned away.
