teenage snakes !
News item ...
Officials have closed the Reptile House at New York's Bronx Zoo after a poisonous Egyptian cobra disappeared from an enclosure that's separate from the animal exhibits.
Zoo officials say the building was immediately closed and secured after staff learned that the "adolescent" snake was missing Friday afternoon.
The zoo released a statement Saturday saying it's confident the 20-inch-long snake is in an area of the building that's not accessible to the public.
Snakes usually seek closed-in spaces and aren't comfortable in open areas.
Teenagers (ados) are all the same, even the snakes want to run away and cause trouble !

Re: teenage snakes !
Krystyna,
Thanks! Excellent story!
My advice to the staff: learn the flute in order to become a good snake charmer before Monday morning!
I heard through the German literature about someone who made lots of money (no, who was supposed to) guiding rats out of a town... do you remember this story?
However, as far as I remember, the story has a sad ending: he was poorly paid and got all of the children out of the city.

Re: teenage snakes !
The story was called "The Pied Piper of Hamelin"
He took the rats back to the city and then led the children away.
Quite a "nasty" story !
Pied = multicoloured
Piper = pipe (type of flute) player

Re: teenage snakes !
I hope they find the run-away snake.
But he/she could be anywhere, and doesn't want to be found !
Personally, I go with a conspiracy theory that he/she was stolen by an employee who will demand a huge ransom for his/her return, and if no ransom is forthcoming, the employee will let the hungry snake loose in the New York metro !

Hi Krystyna, everyone,
Don't you think this story of the piper may be true?

Re: teenage snakes !
Ah relieved !
The poisonous 24-inch Egyptian cobra that disappeared from a Bronx Zoo exhibit was found in a dark corner of the zoo's reptile house.
He came quietly out when the zoo staff offered him a snack of "live mice" !
