"The Prophet "from Khali Gibran
The Prophet is a book of 26 poetic essays written in English in 1923 by the Lebanese artist, philosopher and writer khali Gibran. It is Gibran's best known work. The Prophet has been translated into some forty different languages. As a teen ager I loved to read it over and over again and meditate on his words.
This in what he said about our relationship with children
“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself” Your children are different from you and independent.
This is what he said about love
“You shall be together even in the silent memory of God
But let there spaces in your togetherness” Love should not be intensely close.
