Marie-Anne Paulze Lavoisier (1758-1836), a French chemist played a leading, yet sometimes overlooked, role in the foundations of modern chemistry.

Marie-Anne Pierrette Paulze Lavoisier (1758-1836) was the wife of the famous chemist Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier, but also his valuable collaborator. She took numerous notes and drawings of their experiments, which enabled them to disseminate their discoveries. Her husband was the father of modern chemistry while her role was overlooked which is sad.

Irena Sendler is known mainly for her actions during World War II. As a member of the underground as well as the "Żegota" Council to Aid Jews, she carried out—together with a group of female associates—the operation of rescuing Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. Her actions during the German occupation reflected her outlook on life, evident also before and after the war. Irena Sendler was a true social activist—sensitive, brave and determined.
Hi everyone
I came across this woman's life by chance. She astounded me. During the Second World War she saved 2500 Jewish children under the nose of the Nazis.

let’s talk about women and men - Page 4 Empty Bye bye dear queen Elisabeth

Message  MurielB Sam 10 Sep - 17:48

Queen Elizabeth II died this Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, after 70 years of reign. She was 96 years old.
Despite the discretion and reserve that are inseparable from her office, Queen Elizabeth II has shown during her long reign a very "British" sense of humor through mischievous remarks, staged or not, and appearances as unexpected as they are funny.
These interludes of humor in very formal events have marked the spirits and contributed to maintain the great popularity of Elizabeth II.
To launch the Platinum Jubilee concert, which was attended by dozens of stars (Queen, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Craig David, Diana Ross, Hans Zimmer ...), Buckingham Palace had organized a surprise sketch in the company of Paddington bear, very popular in England.

One day, as she entered a shop, a saleswoman called out to her and pointed out that she looked like the Queen of England. With a slight smile, she replied: "If you only knew how reassuring that is“

let’s talk about women and men - Page 4 Empty Of Boys and Men: Why the modern male is struggling, why it matters, and what to do about by Richard V. Reeves

A Book of the Year 2022 in The Economist and Daily Mail

'One of the most important non-fiction books of the year' - Sunday Times

Boys are 50% more likely than girls to fail at all three key school subjects: maths, reading and science

In the US, the wages of most men are lower today than they were in 1979, while women’s wages have risen across the board

In the UK, suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45

Boys are falling behind at school and college because the educational system is structed in ways that put them at a disadvantage. Men are struggling in the labour market because of an economic shift away from traditionally male jobs. And fathers are dislocated because the cultural role of family provider has been hollowed out. The male malaise is not the result of a mass psychological breakdown, but of deep structural challenges.

Structural challenges require structural solutions, and this is what Richard V. Reeves proposes in Of Boys and Men – starting boys at school a year later than girls; getting more men into caring professions; rethinking the role of fatherhood outside of a nuclear family context.

Feminism has done a huge amount of good in the world. We now need its corollary – a positive vision of masculinity that is compatible with gender equality.
male and female energies (ying and yang) complement each other but it is not easy to achieve this harmony
