As I had a look at the word "Easter" in different languages, I wanted to know more about Easter traditions and customs so I came across that site

Right Muriel, this word along with others... When they plan to go to a country (I'm thinking of work domain), Americans have a list of a few words to mandatorily learn before their trip.
The picture is intendd to show that -strangely- this common word has oodles of forms while it's usually less different, think of "bonjour".
Back to "merci": the picture points out differences (I mean the list includes unusual countries) and doesn't say that "danke" is close to "thanks", that grazie" is close to "gracias", etc. French, Portuguese are unsually in the Roman family.
