Gérard my question has no definite answer because we all act according to our temperament.  Some people can easily start form scratch. They leave their partners, find a new partner, sell their house, buy a new one without problem. Their jobs are like that because they are used to take quick decisions (An emergency physician for instance) others always weigh the pros and the cons and never make up their minds. I am sure that starting from scratch would very much destabilize them.
