I agree with all the explanations except " cheesy ". I think ( but do not know! ) that it probably comes from saying " cheese " for a photo where you have to smile. Cheesy is not " silly " but more an over-exaggeration of sweetness.
For example if the winner of Wimbledon in his victory speech brought on his pet dog and then a shopkeeper on a stretcher in a coma and said this was the first person who sold me a tennis racket - then that would be cheesy. ........ johnB.
