Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com

That's interesting!!
That's exactly what many French do: pronounce words they never heard but just read!!
What's the response ("Grammarly Words—Find the Right Word. http://words.grammarly.com/ ")?

Read very interesting 3557 comments (though most people didn't understand there was an English word for this)

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com

The caption from Grammarly: "Don’t use no double negatives!"
My comment:
I thought this double negative was a specialty of black jazz/blues singers,
Unfortunately, it is not!
This mistake is rather common.
Anyway, it's a big mistake!
considered as big as our French pleonasm.

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
No of course. Like you I know the 3 famous ones : "Great expectations", "The old man and the sea" "crime and punishment" but I am sure they are all worth reading.
I wish I read more but I am busy learning languages and I don't have much time.

Hi Gérard !
Our grand children are included in the pleasure of language learning. The three will spend a week-end in Calais and only English will be allowed among them. Cuddles will be given in English too....Of course !

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Is it because doubt is unconfortable ? is certainty ridiculous ? Is it possible to go forward with doubt ?What men want is not knowledge but certainty Bertrand Russel
Reading involves asking questions about everything and never be certain. Not so easy

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Doubt is necessary to science. "Certainty" is useful too - but very rare... "certainty" till we discover it was wrong - that's science.

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com

and the caption: "If only it were this easy to identify other #bookworms and knowledge lovers!"
Notice the conditional "it were".
We often hear English speaking people say
- Conditional doesn't exist in their language: false!
- Subjonctive doesn't exist in their language: false! "God save the Queen" (what is "save?)
They simply don't know and don't car about grammar.

Whom is the object pronoun corresponding to who,
just as him is the object pronoun that corresponds to he.
