Penzance polyglot café

Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année à tous nos amis en France. This week Caf...é Polyglot, Penzance's own club for linguists, celebrated yet another successful year with an international Christmas party where members had to bring food and drink from their favourite country and talk to each other in the language of their choice. There were: Spanish cheeses, polenta cake from Italy, quiche lorraine from France and delicious chocolate ginger cake from Germany, all washed down with Italian and Spanish sparkling wines. Visitors came from as far afield as Pau in the South of France and Valencia in Spain. Over the year the club has held a Summer barbecue,international quizzes, musical evenings, and the ever-popular 'language speed-dating which involves spending ten minutes at each table learning a few words a language that you do not know. It has entertained visiting groups from Penzance's twin town, Cuxhaven and the leaders of various student groups who come to study in our town in Summer. The picture (see the picture : Group FB "amis des cafés polyglottes") shows Polyglotters wishing everyone a very happy Christmas in all the languages spoken by club members. Why not make it your New Year's resolution to learn a new language or to brush up one that might have gone a bit rusty?
