Tautologies

First of all I must say thank you. I have known the word " tautology " for many years but I would have spelt it incorrectly ! In my understanding, the following are tautologies :

" A free gift " ( often used in adverts ) - It is an example of tautology because a gift is always free .

" A new innovation " ( an innovation is always new )

" A clenched fist ( a fist is always a hand that is clenched ) JohnB.
