A police officer found a perfect hiding place for watching for speeding motorists.
One day, the officer was amazed when everyone was under the speed limit, so he investigated and found the problem.
A 10 years old boy was standing on the side of the road with a huge hand painted sign which said “Radar Trap Ahead.”
A little more investigative work led the officer to the boy’s accomplice: another boy about 100 yards beyond the radar tr

Re: Dawn French Fan Club 3
I'm sorry, I got problems with the end of last post.
The end said that the accomplice boy stood 100 yards beyond the radar with a bucket in which there were lots of coins (given by drivers who so managed to avoid a fine ).

I don't understand this list.
Of course, a H in the middle of a word is silent (exhaust exhibit) such as in what who where etc. It would not be in German; I remember the way a German friend was pronouncing Manhattan as we were speaking English: funny.
In ""half hour", of course the first H is not silent, the second H is, like in "hour": so no surprise.
As far as I know "half hour" is written without a hyphen while the adjective and adverb "half-hourly" takes one.

Gérard I don't quite understand "Aging disgracefully is a total blast"
A blast is a good time isn't it and that doesn't with disgracefully
A blast is a good time isn't it and that doesn't with disgracefully

A blast is more than "good time", it's informal, rather "great time"/"good laugh".MurielB a écrit:Gérard I don't quite understand "Aging disgracefully is a total blast"
A blast is a good time isn't it and that doesn't suit disgracefully
In the picture they mean they don't care about your thoughts, they do what they want and have great time.
